Welcome
Choquequirao is considered the cradle of gold of the incas this inca trail is full of exotic, exciting and little-explored places, an archaeological complex located in the heart of cusco – peru, often described as the “sister of machu picchu”. although it is not as well known, several reasons make it even more spectacular, such as being nestled in the impressive apurimac canyon and being much larger than its counterpart, if you like adventure, choquequirao is the perfect place. the site has terraces, enclosures, lush scenery, and offers the possibility of camping in the middle of nature, choquequirao is located in the alto salkantay sector, in the territory of the yanama community of the santa teresa district, la convención province in cusco. this historic place turned out to be of great strategic importance to the incas, as it served as a key point to connect the cities of pisac and machu picchu with the vast peruvian amazon.
