Reading coca leaves, known as “hoja de coca” divination, is an ancient Andean practice used by indigenous peoples of Peru. It is primarily performed by yatiris (spiritual guides or shamans) to gain insight into the past, present, and future.

Coca leaf reading has been practiced for centuries, rooted in Andean cosmology and spiritual beliefs. The coca plant itself is considered sacred, believed to carry messages from the Apus (mountain spirits) and Pachamama (Mother Earth).
