Salkantay Trek 5D4N
This day we will pick you up at your hotel in Cusco between 4:30 and 5:00 AM. During this period, the guide will pick up the participants at their respective hotels in Cusco. After gathering the group, you will leave Cusco around 5:15 AM, heading to the town of Mollepata by car, a trip of approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival in Mollepata, you will enjoy a hearty breakfast in one of the local restaurants, included in the tour. Typically, the stay in Mollepata, including breakfast and last-minute shopping, lasts about an hour, after breakfast the trip continues by car to Soraypampa for another hour. Once in Soraypampa, you will meet the team of muleteers and horses, marking the beginning of the Salkantay trek. Before starting the trek, all equipment and duffel bags will be given to the muleteers and horses. The hike from Soraypampa to Humantay Lagoon begins at an elevation of 3,900 meters and ascends to 4,200 meters, where the lagoon is located. The initial part of the hike involves a gradual ascent for about an hour, followed by a steeper climb for the last hour. The total hike to the lagoon takes about 2 hours, upon reaching Humantay Lagoon you will have free time to enjoy the stunning views, take pictures and listen to the guide's opinions. The stay at the lagoon usually lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours, weather permitting. After visiting the lagoon, the descent to Quiswarniyoc Camp begins. This part of the hike involves a 1-hour downhill hike followed by a 45-minute mostly flat hike, upon reaching Quiswarniyoc Camp, usually around 2:00 p.m., you will be able to enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the kitchen team. After lunch, the guide will accompany you to your respective dormitories for a well-deserved rest. The afternoon after lunch is free from scheduled hikes, allowing you to take short walks and explore the vast Quiswarniyoc area, enjoying the imposing views of Salkantay, which rises directly in front of the camp. Around 6:00 p.m., a hot dinner will be served. After dinner, you will receive important information about day 02 of the trek, which involves reaching the highest point of the journey.

This day we will start early in the morning at 5am with a coca leaf tea known to help with altitude acclimatization.
After waking up you have approximately 30 minutes to get ready and pack for the day, We will have breakfast at 5:30am.
Afterwards we will hike to the Salkantay Pass: The hike from Quiswarniyoc to the highest point of the trek, the Salkantay Pass at 4700 meters above sea level, Upon reaching the summit you will have time to enjoy the stunning views, photograph the mountains and feel the proximity of Mount Salkantay.
The guide will often provide you with information about the area and perform a ritual in gratitude to the Apus, the mountain gods. You will spend between 30 and 45 minutes at the summit, then we descend 2 hours from the Salkantay Pass to the lunch site at Wayracmachay. There is a brief time to rest, weather permitting. The final descent segment of the day is from the lunch site to the second camp at Chawllay. This descent, which takes between 2.5 and 3 hours, is slightly steep but offers incredible views as you transition from the Andes to the Amazon region. Upon reaching Chawllay, the second camp at 2900 meters, the guide will escort you to your accommodation for the night.
The day concludes with a delicious dinner prepared by the kitchen team. This itinerary for the second day of trekking is designed to balance challenging ascents and descents with ample opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty and cultural significance of the Salkantay region.

This day we wake up very early and have breakfast around 6:00 am then we start the hike from Chawllay to Lucmabamba, this 5 hour hike features predominantly flat terrain through the Santa Teresa Valley offering the opportunity to observe diverse flora and fauna, and culminates with an immersive coffee tour experience upon arrival in Lucmabamba, In Lucmabamba we will visit a local family to learn about the entire coffee production process in the area then we will have lunch and subsequently we will visit the Cocalmayo hot springs we will have the afternoon free to relax, in the evening a delicious dinner prepared by the kitchen team awaits you at camp, usually served around 7 pm. After dinner we will receive information and details for the next day's itinerary, leading to the base village of Machu Picchu, Aguas Calientes.

We start at 6:00 am, which will give us time to pack, followed by breakfast served at 6:30 am. The hike starts around 7:00 am from the campsite to the archaeological site of Llactapata, A 3-hour climb on an Inca trail will give us a unique view of Machu Picchu, Waynapicchu and the surrounding mountains, offering a different perspective of Machu Picchu's location in the mountains. There will be time to explore the ruins of Llactapata and appreciate the view, and after the visit, it is time to begin the 2-hour descent to Hidroeléctrica.
Descent to Hidroeléctrica Central: The path from Llactapata to Hidroeléctrica is somewhat steep, possibly the steepest descent of the hike. At this stage, trekking poles come in handy as we reach the Hydroelectric Power Station, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. The last part of the day consists of a 3-hour hike along the railway from the Hydroelectric Power Station to Aguas Calientes, the base town of Machu Picchu. Along this hike, you will also be able to see parts of Machu Picchu from the valley below. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, the guide will take you to the lodge for the night, where you can rest, shower, and prepare for your last dinner in Aguas Calientes village, then we will make final preparations for the next day's adventure in Machu Picchu.

This day is exciting because we will visit Machu Picchu, a long awaited highlight. We wake up very early 4 a.m., to enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Around 4:30 a.m., we start our hike to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu for approximately 1:30 hours through historic stone stairs that lead directly to the main entrance of Machu Picchu. Optionally, there are also buses to Machu Picchu. For those who prefer, the goal is to arrive at the gate of Machu Picchu at 6:00 a.m., either on foot or by bus. At the main control, you will need to show your Machu Picchu entrance tickets and original passports. If you booked as a student, you will also need to present your original student ID. Then we will have the guided tour to Machu Picchu. After passing through the controls, we head to the top of Machu Picchu to take iconic photographs. You will have time to capture images and enjoy the stunning views. Then, our expert Machu Picchu guide will lead a 2.5-hour tour of the Inca citadel. During this tour you will discover all the secrets and history that make Machu Picchu a world wonder. Those who have booked tickets for Waynapicchu or Machu Picchu Mountain will receive guidance from our guide to access the entry points to these mountains. Finally, we will return to Aguas Calientes to have lunch and take the train to Ollantaytambo and then arrive in Cusco.
